Stats Put Android Ahead Of iPhone In Eight States
There's encouraging news for Google in the Android vs. iPhone war. A company that's delivered more than one billion applications, games, ringtones, videos, and wallpapers to mobile users claims Android has topped the iPhone in terms of user concentration in eight states.
As the map below shows, these eight states are Arizona, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Then another five states are considered swing states, leaving the last 37 under Apple's control.
Obviously, these findings don't represent a true victory for Google even if they're absolute facts. The states associated with Android aren't all chockfull of people, and eight to 37 isn't a good ratio. Apple fans are sure to point out that Myxer is relatively new to the stats game, as well.
Still, the data indicates that Android's gained a lot of ground within a certain sample group, and that it's done so at a more than reasonable pace. What's more, Myxer's promised to update the map every quarter, meaning we'll get a better idea of how things are trending as time goes by.
According to Myxer, "A total of one million unique users from both the Android and iPhone operating systems were used to make this comparison."

Grading Google's Marketing Practices Based On Google's Standards?

The Google Buzz team has had quite a week. Their new product quickly lived up to its name, though mostly for the wrong reasons, generating buzz about its own privacy issues. Calling the original Google Buzz privacy settings lax would be a gross understatement. It created a storm of complaints, best put in perspective by Harriet Jacobs in her F*ck You, Google piece.
In short, when you logged into your Gmail account Google simply took all of your frequent contacts and mashed them up into an active social network without much input from people they were connecting. If you exchanged a lot of emails with your editor and your under-cover sources from the same Gmail account, now they were connected through your public profile if you didn't happen to catch the Buzz opt-out checkbox. Or what about using the same Gmail account for emailing your husband and your boyfriend? Well now they're introduced - you're welcome.
Yes, sounds like a pretty naïve and reckless way to implement a major feature but Google protested that they just wanted to help and meant no evil. After all, their CEO Eric Schmidt had an interesting take on expectations for privacy online: "If you have something that you don't want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn't be doing it in the first place". That was said nary two months before Google Buzz launched - I guess people like Harriet Jacobs and her abusive ex-husband just didn't listen.

Salesforce.com Countersuing Microsoft for Patent Infringement
Salesforce.com, the world's leading SaaS vendor, is suing Microsoft for patent infringement Business Week reported today. As we've reportedMicrosoft filed suit against Salesforce.com for patent infringement last month. Salesforce.com hired David Boies, who reprsented the US Department of Justice in its antitrust case against Microsoft.

So I finally upgraded from wordpress 2.0.8. My old theme is broken with:
